Naturopathic Diet for Weight Loss – Anti-inflammatory diet – Healthy Eating for Life

I recommend an Anti-inflammatory diet. It is not a diet that you do for weeks or months then feel depressed or deprived and go on and off like a yo yo. This is a healthy eating plan for life that will provide you with sound nutrition and promote healthy metabolic rate and weight loss.

You will focus on plenty of vegetables and fruits including berries. Include a good source of omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, tuna or fish oil supplements and walnuts, flax and nuts and seeds and legumes. Foods that are high in fibre and nutritionally dense will help you feel full such as brown rice, oats, beans, lentils and quinoa. Cut back on red meat and include lean protein sources such as chicken. Include ginger, curry and turmeric for their anti-inflammatory properties and Green tea. Drink 6-8 glasses of room temperature water per day.

You will avoid/reduce wheat, dairy, saturated fats, processed, refined and packaged foods and sugar. You will also avoid any foods that you are allergic to. You will reduce/avoid the intake of refined carbohydrates such as pasta and white rice.


Of course, no weight loss programme is complete without exercise. Get out regularly walking, tramping, doing sport, dancing and yoga. Once we have addressed the underlying causes of your inability to lose weight with the above nutritional programme, you will have plenty of energy and motivation to enjoy exercise.
